I am writing in an internet cafe from Oaxaca, Mexico. Today, I want to visit the Tule Tree, a tree in the same family as the Redwood and its huge. When I get back I will try to put up the weather station again, we already had about two inches of rain, mushrooms should be sprouting all over when I get back.

The doctor called and said the surgery went well. Can’t wait to pick her up.
I don’t know the results yet, but I dropped her off for surgery. I walked her on the beach this morning before dropping her off. Sad, she wanted to run, but I knew I had to keep her on the leash or she would run into rocks or get lost in the surf.

Our dog blondie has diabetes and now has gone blind from cataracts. So, I guess it has got me down, she used to like to chase squirrels. She especially liked to chase fish, like in a fish pond. She would bark at them and chase them around, and we found out she could catch them too. So, we had to keep her away from fish ponds.
Right now, at almost 7pm it is 39 and dropping with precipitation enough to make snow. Should see it on the way to work anyway.
What a huge long crash. It was only about ten feet from one of our cars. A madrone went down and as it fell, it took two oaks and another madrone with it. The dominoe effect made it sound like the longest falling tree….I was imagining this really tall redwood or douglas fir going down because the sound lasted so long. It took the lights out at the same time, I guess just because of the shaking to the nearby telephone pole. Madrone wood is really hard and heavy, it is like the manzanita (they are in the same family), but the madrone can grow 200 feet high and when this really heavy wood falls it can take down any trees in the way. Two of the trees were snaped off about 15 feet from the ground. I though something fell from the sky, the way it looked. Okay, I’ll take a picture and post it…anyway it really scared us.
We went to Ano Nueve State Park yesterday and we walked up to a sleeping elephant seal. Cathy Jo is fearless. She got about ten feet away, it opened its eye and just gave her a sleepy look. But it was really big, maybe a half ton.
